Leadership & Management Funding Now available for employers with 5 or more employees and that are based in Yorkshire

I have recently become aware of The Leadership & Management Development Fund which is available for employers with 5 or more employees, based in Yorkshire, and must as the title suggest be used to develop management and leadership skills.

It provides £500 free, and then a further £500 matched £ for £ (so if £1,500 was spent, the employer would only pay £500). A director must apply - its a very simple procedure (I can initiate this on your behalf). After application the director receives an approval code, confirms a provider, receives the development, pays the provider, and then are refunded costs in line with the fund, usually all within 28 days.

I have researched by speaking to others involved in differing parts of the process to gain more information as to how it operates in real world and all the feedback has been that it has proven to be really beneficial and worthwhile. Whilst the scheme will run until March 2011 they advised that it is likely that they will cease to accept applications from December as on average it takes a couple of months to complete – which is probably a realistic timescale.

Junes AVBN Meet up with Steve Ding

Last night saw this biggest AVBN meet up yet. We had over 20 people turn up to the new event so all signs are pointing towards an active group of real benefit moving forwards.

Steve Ding of Bmedia gave a great presentation detailing how Bmedia have grown to become the entity that they are today and some of the benefits that can be gained from being a Bmedia member.

Steve also went on to discuss his view on networking and it's inherent value to any business, how it can help gain new business, quality contacts and grow your knowledge and circle of associates.

The presentation was well received, we hope everyone there managed to take something of value away with them.

The Silsden Juniors football team are now looking for sponsors for the current season (starting in 3 weeks time).

Steve Ding, the CEO of Bmedia will be talking at the AVBN June meeting, he'll be adding to our series of talks on design and marketing by joining us to discuss the benefits of networking, both face to face and in particular using LinkedIn.
